1st Rataouille RP: PART 5!

Hi there, everyone! It's that time again! Anyways, we now have Linguini covered but we're STILL missing Collette. Can someone PLEASE help out on this one? Pretty please with sugar on top? ^^; Anyways, also if Riddle_Holic's reading this, are you stuck and do you need another way back in? You seem to always get caught in these timejumps leaving you in a weird spot. So I'm wondering if you need some help out there?

On another note, The RP OST project has been started, so if you're interested, please feel free to add to it. On my last note here is that if you've got friends who are Rataouille fans, please feel free to invite them to join us! Come on! We don't bite.... much. XD

So anyways, on to the RECAP!

Oi! Hazell here! Anyways, yas guys been tellin' me to do one of these thangs and well... I'm doin' it. Good thang I've got my braille keyboard 'n' speech reader here. So here's da sitch:

Rataouille side: Still gots da broken AC and thangs are gettin' crazier. First, Mason gets to know his job a lil' too well when he meets da real Chef of da Bistro fer da first time. Ooo! That knocked 'em out in a New York minute! He eventually comes 'round and heads out to get some fresh air where he meets a new compadre, Basil, if ya knows what I'm sayin'. It's then that my fellow New Yorker exposes that he ain't just here to look at the sights but to get away from his family. Good thang they aren't like my Ma and Pa.... yet. But Basil takes this mkay and da two get 'long just fine. Badda-bing-badda-boom!

Anyways, back in da kitchen, Torch gets a lil' taste of humility as he's put on a 3-day trial. If he messes that up, it's curtains fer him and a whole lot of unemployment. Da hotshot doesn't see da purpose in this and thinks this is a waste of time. But it's really da opposite! Genius, I tells ya! G-E-N-I-U-S! But then the get a 'nother bit of bad news from da Monkey's Paw guys... or as I call 'em - Da Paws. They aren't too happy 'bout thangs and send them a threatenin' letter too. Tanya then does her "psychic readin'" thang on da letter and tells da crew 'bout a potential visit from da Paws later that night. So Torch offers to stay, but Linguini has to look after him as part of da trial. Later that night, Tanya leaves and takes Remy and Yvette out to da Museaum to da Chef's Exhibit.

Wit Linguini and Torch, they start yakkin' it up and Lingy-boy lets da cat outta da bag 'bout what he knows 'bout Remy. Torch thinks it's a joke, but quickly realizes it's da truth. He takes it mkay afterwards. Then da two discuse what's da game plan fer that LaRoche girl.

DBR: Renee exposes her big bad secret 'bout da time she was a "made girl" back at Da Paws fer two weeks before she wanted out. Thangs don't go as badly as she thought at first. But when she leave to work in da kitchen fer a while, it becomes quickly clear that she ain't working too well wit out her lucky knife. Somethang Da Big Cheese, Chef Skinner, was hidin' from her. It was one bad luck type thang after 'nother that mornin' 'til Da Big Cheese gives in and give back da knife. Good thang too! We was fearin' fer our lives fer a while there!

Anyways, Jong goes out on an errand to figure out what he can 'bout Renee. He gets just that when he talks to Ethan back at da Shoppe.

But when thangs get dark out and it ain't day no more, da big heist plan goes in to full swing. But not before I and Jong fight 'bout who stays and who goes. So we both watch da kitchen as Renee and Da Big Cheese go there own way to meet up wit Ethan to go over da Master plan and all da gear. Da Big Cheese ain't takin' that too seriously 'til Horst says somethang to change his mind, if ya knows what I'm sayin'. We also meet da male mute store assistant who turns out to be a spy-in-trainin', Athena or just simply "Athee." Right now, da heist team is gettin' ready in Ethan's souped up spy-van.

Back at our kitchen, we play out a few rounds of poker and talk it up while waiting fer da Paws. But since Renee accidentally sneezed on me on my break earlier, I sorta take a turn fer da worse and da game ends early. Oh yeah.... and I sorta add to this when I kinda ate somethang on a bet that I probably shouldn't have. But fer 100 Euros? I'm a bit of a sucker fer that. Couldn't resist. But I'm payin' fer that now..... what was I thinkin'?! Oh yeah.... 100 Euros... an EASY 100 Euros... or at least, I THOUGHT it was. Bad idea, I tells ya.

So what's goin' to happen? Is da DBR crew goin' ta score da recipe or is Remy and Co goin' ta put a stop to it in time? And what 'bout them Paws? They seem pretty PO'd 'bout stuff. Who's goin' to win out in da end or who's goin' ta be sent back ta Jersy? Find out in da 1st Ratatouille RP: Part 5, startin' right

"Well... I think you can tell that I thought you were yankin' my chain at first. But since nothing else makes logical sense, it's gotta be the truth and the truth is much more amazing. So you got any game plans for LaRoche yet? And how are you going to tell Little Chef that you let the cat outta the bag early?" said Torch.

Once everyone reached the garage, Ethan came in. Firstly, he had to handle the electronic garage door locks before leaving. As he walked over to the locks, Ethan tripped and stumbled over a toolbox in the middle of the floor. This was shortly followed by a wince and a loud curse.

"Athee! I thought we've established that whenever you're working on your robot that you never leave your tools out!" Ethan hissed.

But that fustration was shortlived as Ethan went to the locks and bypassed the security. The garage door opened and Ethan got in to the driver's seat of the van. But this was no ordinary van. It was a QK standard mobile sever known as a MERV unit. The unique thing about the van was the headsup digital display that apoeared in the front window and that it could be programmed to drive back to the garage on autopiolet when they were done with it.

Ethan tapped on the display and brought up the GPS along with other data. Without looking, he spoke.

"I know that I can trust Monsieur Horst to not do this, but to the rest of you... Renee... Skinner - DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING BACK THERE. There's very delecate and dangerous equipment stored in the back that I would highly advise against touching. So keep your hans to your self," said Ethan.

He started the van and took off down the correct streets.

Tanya stepped out of her card and made her way inside the Museam.

"Tell me where to go and I will do so," Tanya whispered to her rodent companions.

"I did no such thing!"

"Ya did SO! If I wasn't, I wouldn't be feelin' so drousy right now, I tells ya!"

This was yet another fine argument between Hazell and Jong. After attempting giving Hazell medication, Jong had realised he had made an error and didn't give her the non-drousy formula hence the resulting chaos.

"Gimme THAT!" Hazell growled hoarsly.

She grabbed the containers from Jong's hands. Fortunately, there was time taken significantly before hand to put braille labels on things so she could find them. Since she was hired on, it has been a general rule to put braille labels on various items. This was one of them. Hazell traced her fingers over the labels. She then held out the containers to prove her point.

"Ah HA! Ya see this! What does it say, Jong?"

"It says "non-drousy.""

"And what DOESN'T this one say?"

"And YAR da one who isn't BLIND!"

"It was an honest mistake. I didn't mean to do that...."

"Sure! Sure! I believes ya.... NO! No, I DON'T! When I'm well 'nuff, yar gettin' ICED!"

"Meanin' I get ta throw ice cubes at ya wit a sling shot! But maybe that's TOO nice fer ya!"

"Hazell! Calm down! You're begining to sound all too much like our boss!"

"Ya would too if someone did this to ya!"

"You're getting cranky...."

"Shut yar TRAP!"

Hazell stopped to yawn. She was really starting to feel tired.

"Hazell?" said Jong slowly as he noted his co-work's change in energy levels.

"I said - "Shut yar trap,"" Hazell grummbled.

Jong took this as a sign that now was probably a good time to leave Hazell alone to get some sleep. So he slowly stood up and nodded to Hazell.

"I will come back a little later," said Jong.

Hazell waved a half dismisive hand at him.

"Yeah. Sure. Whatevah. See ya later," said Hazell stiffling a yawn.

Jong walked over to the door and closed it behind him as he left. So there he sat in the kitchen alone. Waiting for anything to happen.

"Game plans? Well I only just arrived today, and I haven't been able to talk to Little Chef about it yet, so I'm not exactly sure, but I know he'll think of something, like I said he'll do everything he possibly can to ensure we win and that no more people lose their jobs!" Linguini shook his finger as he spoke.

"Ah! Break it to him? Well I think he might come back tonight actually after he's done with Skinner. Not sure how late but he'll probably come back. He knows I'll be here after all. I'm sure he won't mind...." Linguini really had NO idea what Remy would think in reality, but he'd best not let Torch know just yet. "I'm sure he won't mind meeting you though, he's very friendly." Linguini smiled, scratching the back of his head as he did so.

Skinner's finger was hovering over a black shiny knob before Ethan's warning was put out, and he gave off a guilty grin and slowly retracted his arm. So many buttons and dials and actuators. Skinner wondered what each one was for but knew better than to go around touching, no matter HOW tempting it indeed was. His eyes played over everything and he tried to keep his hands to himself but....

Horst's arm shot out and latched onto Skinner's as he was reaching for a dial. "No touchy." Horst said calmly, and let Skinner's arm go. Skinner rubbed his wrist and slumped back in his seat.

"I don't see Skinner's car parked anywhwere...." Remy whispered in thought. Of course that didn't mean he hadn't parked say a few blocks away and was walking in, but at the moment there was no way to tell. "Well...guess we can just head inside and start heading throughout the exhibition. I think there's some sort of dinner or reception going on beforhand, should try to head there first." Yes...Remy had to admit he DID want to see what sort of food was being served, but it was probably as good a place as any to start.

"Well.... I can tell you a bit about what LOST to LaRoche or what she snagged me on. Remember that peach dish I was going to make as my demo dish earlier when I first got in today? Well... that's what I went with last time. I figured something easy and simple would leave me a great base to build off of and do something hot with. I also wanted to play off the fact that it was a colder night. But even with all that thought and stuff I put in to it, she STILL slammed it. I don't think "sweet" is totally her thing. She's not fond of overly spicey either. So you can rule those out," said Torch.

He pulled out his cooking-torch, set it on the smallest setting and played a little bit with the trigger.

"By the way, how fast can you go on those rollerskates? Bet you're pretty speedy," said Torch.

Ethan glanced through his rear view to see Skinner and Horst.

"I SAW that. Do NOT tell me that this is going to be just like chauffering a bunch of perpetual 2-year olds," said Ethan.

This was a more serious and tense side to Ethan that Renee never really had seen before. It was an interesting thing for her to watch.... until her short attention-span kicked in. As usual, it always started off with babbling when curiosity gets the best of her.

"I wonder.... what Chef Jong and Chef Fuscielli are doing right now....? I hope she's not too upset about what happened on break. She didn't look like she was doing well.... but she seemed to be taking it okay...." Renee babbled.

She recalled a time back in the middle of April when Hazell had came down with a case of the stomach flu and how grouchy and irritable she was then. Renee hoped she wasn't going to see that. It was an intimidating thing to her when she saw the irritable mobster-chef.

Renee's fingers also wandered too. However, this produced a more interesting result. Her fingers brush on what seemed like a slot. Everything happened in a matter of nano-seconds as a bunch of blue sparks came out causing Renee to yelp and ultimately caused some strands of her hair to go on end followed by a comedic puff of smoke and what looked like black charred powder over her face. Renee coughed for a moment before looking quite dazed and stunned.

"....owies....?" Renee muttered while looking stunned.

"RENEE!" said Ethan sharply.

He groaned afterwards.

"Will someone back there keep an eye on her, PLEASE?" asked Ethan.

Tanya was also on alert.

"I do not sense him either. All indications so far seems to show that he is not here yet. Perhaps we are early?" said Tanya.

She stepped through the doors carefully and got in to the main reception area where the dinner was being held. It was definately a formal event. Tanya was greatful that she opted to dress up for the occasion.

(OOC: Okay. I've been thinking and here's what I think's your best bet: Get either Basil, Ego or both at the exhibit. I can probably toss Mason in because he's a photographer-opportunist meaning that he hunts out potential photograpy opportunities. But if you tried this, it'll get you right in to where the action's going to be. Ego, I can completely see him going to one of these events. It strikes me as a very IC thing for him to do. Basil might come along with Mason. I'm not sure about it, but I do know that quite a few of these formal events, there's going to be live musicians and potentially someone he could also talk to about getting his foot in the door as a professional. How does that sound to you?)

(ooc: Okay. My connection may be a little messy tonight because I do have a major thunderstorm here on my end. But anyways, a little bit of filler and foreshadow....)

Athee sat perched watching for any movement outside the Paw's building. She then got a call on her QK com system or ComSys as Athee would call it. This call came from her robot - Arii.

==User Athee! Hello!== said Arii.

"Bonsoir. What is it? I really can't do any tinkering with your AI and teach you anything righT now. Can it wait?" said Athee.

==User Ethan asked me to inquire about the briefcase after you droped it off== said Arii.

"It's been dropped off and I STILL have no clue what's inside it. Professor Kollander told me to keep out," said Athee.

==Oh! Most excellent! My! You are so fast!==

"Thanks. How's the Professor?"

==Gone. But the most mysterious thing happened! Our network connection went down!==

"It's down? Can you reconnect? Is it a missing network key again?"

==Nope! Nopity-nope-no! Negatory! Unable to establish connection. Manually severed.==

"What do you mean?"

==Some networking equipment was destroyed... physically. Oh my ones and zeros!==

"Only the professor can do---- wait! He did! He's the one who shut down our network. I doubt he shut down MERV, but us? It's weird. Did he mention if this was my first solo mission? Did he leave any objectives for it?"

==... nope. Negatory. Aren't solo missions first given to students at age 15?==

"Um... yes. But I'm 16 and I've STILL haven't gotten it yet. And receiving it at 17 would be downright embarrassing! Solo missions are like a rite of passage for QK students!"

==Not solo?==

"No. If he didn't leave anything with you, it can't be a solo, really. So then that leaves me with this - what is Professor Kollander REALLY up to? Does he know something that no one else does?"

This sat on Athee's mind. She decided to head back to the Shoppe to investigate.

Linguini's brow furrowed. "Well that's not good. Even though you won all these awards she STILL failed your dish? That's what I'm afraid is going to happen here, so we've gotta find a way around that. Little Chef is really smart though, I honestly don't think he's just going to let her smash this restaurant with a review however. Still...unbelievable that she actually did that." Linguini said, shaking his head.

"Oh....my skates...umm....well....heh." He gave off a little smile and ducked back into the kitchen, then before long whizzed out with menus in hand. Moving fluidly and quickly, he dashed around the tables on his wheels and laid menus out in a flash, then just as speedily headed back out the tables, picking the menus up all in a neat pile and scooting back into the kitchen.

He emerged again after a minute or two and scratched the back of his head. "Looks like you won that bet. Pretty much the only thing I AM good at heh."

Skinner rolled his eyes at Ethan's comment. Why did HE have to be the one? But one look at Horst told him that his former sous chef was NOT putting this task into his agenda. "Renee, why don't you not touch anything and tell me about the best job you ever had?" Skinner was ignorant of the fact that THIS was the best job she'd ever had, but he had to think of something quick and that was the only thing that came to mind. "And oh! Isn't Monsieur Kollander from another planet or something, like Planet X I believe you said?" Skinner gave a little smirk into the rearview mirror at Ethan, a sort of "take that!" look. "I'm sure I'd like to hear ALL about that!"

Horst rolled his eyes. Why did the chef have to act like a child for the ride?

"Hmm, probably are early" Remy commented before his nostrils were bombarded by by the scents of the reception. "Ohohohoh! Here we go! Get closer to those tables Tanya! Ohh yeah....this caterer sure is a good one." He almost recklessly poked his head out from Tanya's hair before remembering he was "under cover" and should try to lay low. But oh! SUCH gourmet delights! Specially seasoned cheeses, truffles, there was some sort of grille it looked like over in the corner, and yes, SO many things to choose from! Chuckling a bit, he began to get distracted, but in the back of his mind kept telling himself to be on the lookout for Skinner.

Oct. 2nd, 2007 02:47 am (UTC)
Torch watched Linguini move about quickly on his skates. Torch looked impressed.

"That's some pretty hot stuff!" said Torch.

He got up.

"Lemme show you a synchro-trick I've been working on. Say it out of a movie once. Hopefully, I've got enough clearance to do it," said Torch.

He stood ready and took a few breaths before he lept in to the air and sommersaulted a few times. He twisted his body around to land in a spinning motion. The landing should have been fluid but instead Torch rand out of room and hit one of his arms on a nearby table. He cursed a moment while holding his arm. When he rolled up his sleaves, he noted that one of the Burn injuries that had recently healed up was now a little open.

"Man! That ain't good!" said Torch.

Ethan caught that "take that" glance in the rearview and rolled his eyes. But then afterwards he gave a sly look for he knew that the vents weren't cleaned recently and that Skinner would have to be the first to enter them.

Renee, however, was stuck on the first question still. She um'd and uh'd a few times.

"Ohh... that's a very tricky question, Chef....um..." said Renee awkwardly.

She wasn't sure if she were ready to awnser that question right in front of her boss!

"Um... well... there is this one. It's one of my more recent ones.... um... you see... without it, I would have to return home to Hawaii without completing what I set out to do. If I went home to Hawaii... I would have to abandon my dream completely. Also.... well... it's the longest job I've kept... so um... I owe this... um.... person very very much for helping me....." said Renee looking up at the ceiling while playing with one of her beaded braids.

She was half dodging saying the truth outright. She was a little shy about it.

Tanya walked over to the table for Remy.

"How do you propose we do this? It would look awefully odd for me to be sticking food in my hair," said Tanya a little confused.

“That would be peculiar.” A familiar dark toned voice said coming up behind Tanya.
“What brings you two here to this occasion?” He asked curious seeing one of the Le Ratatouille employees, with Remy outside the restaurant.

Tanya flipped a little hair over Remy and Yvette to hide them better as Ego came up.

"Good evening, Monsieur Ego. We're here to enjoy the exhibit and to also keep an eye out for Skinner. Remy believes that our rivals will show up to attempt to steal the Golden Koi recipe. But I also have other feelings about this situation. It relates back to what was said in our Chopstick Letter from the Monkey's Paw. Currently, Torch, Vernon, and Linguini are watching over the Bistro. I only hope that my predictions for tonight are wrong," said Tanya.

Linguini watched with interested as Torch mentioned a trick he himself could do. Making sure he stood far enough back behind a talbe, Linguini watched the spectacle unfold in front of him. With great finesse Torch launched his body into the air, somersaulting in mid-air before he twisted himself, sort of like an Olympic diver or skater, Linguini thought to himself.

What should have been a nice landing however turned ugly when one of his arms struck with great force a table that didn't provide him with enough cleared area. Uttering a curse or two, he held his arm in pain and rolled up a sleeve.

"Oh! Oh! Yeah....ummm...uhh..." Linguini's brain was racing around, trying to process where the...."first aid kit! In the kitchen!" He scooted back into the double doors and started fumbling around with the kit, causing some bandages to go flying all about. "Ohhh you!" Linguini said crossly at the kit before he remerged into the dining area carrying the hastily closed white box.

"Here ya go!" he said, thrusting it out at Torch. "Should be able to find what you need in there."

Skinner raised a brow in confusion at Renee's runaround treatment at first, but then it slowly dawned on him just WHAT she was talking about. As she went on about this "one person" whom she owed much to, he was a bit hesitant to continue with this line of questioning, and finally cast a cursory glance at Ethan, deciding to leave him alone.

"So...you owe this person much do you? Well I hope this person won't disappoint." He murmured, more to himself than to anyone else. Horst listened with interest to the conversation, his own feelings coming into this.

He would REALLY have to make it a point...but not tonight of course, to tie up some loose ends that had been nagging him now for a long time. For now though, he had a job and that's really all that mattered.

Remy was debating this himself when Anton Ego came up behind them and Remy didn't speak, for fear of giving himself away to others if he spoke too loudly. He listened to Tanya's explanation and nodded to himself in satisfaction. Four heads were better than three, and Skinner would HAVE to show up soon, Remy just knew it! He would HAVE to be here!
